How to play MOGGED: Looksmaxx or Die
One to eight players share a looks quota that rises weekly: shop and improve by day, loot the frat house at night, extract before the 5AM curfew, and never be the ugliest face in the lobby.

The loop in one screen
MOGGED: Looksmaxx or Die is a one-to-eight player co-op horror game with proximity voice chat. You and your friends share a looks quota that goes up every week you clear, and the only way to keep up is to get prettier by day, then break into a frat house by night and take what you need.
| Phase | What you do | What can go wrong |
|---|---|---|
| Day | Shop, softmaxx, work, cook, get presentable | Too chopped and the door guy turns you away at night |
| Night | Raid the frat house for contraband and loot | Something inside is hunting the ugliest player in the lobby |
| By 5AM | Get home, sell the extras, bank the money | Anything still on you after curfew is confiscated |
| Week end | Beat the group average | Miss the quota and the whole run ends for everyone |
The store page is blunt about the stakes: you and your friends made a pact to improve your looks each week, and failing to improve means surrendering to hopelessness together.

Day: softmaxx, work, and shop
Daylight is the safe window. Official screenshots show the routine running on a clock — DAY 2 · 8:27 AM, with a rent line already hanging over it — and the phone menu gives you the ways out: work a shift, trade on ChadBay, or head into MaxMart.
- MaxMart is the responsible-shopping version of softmaxx: skincare, groceries, household supplies, and a few items that really should not be combined.
- Your apartment is where equipment goes. Fill it with things that protect your aura and manage your cortisol, and it becomes hard to explain to a landlord.
- Work and stock trading are the legal-money escape hatches when the quota is about to bite.
- The tutorial literally tasks you with carting a looksmaxxing item under $80 — the game teaches you to shop on a budget before it teaches you anything dangerous.

Night: the frat house raid
At night the party is on and the frat house becomes a randomly generated extraction level. Official copy describes it as rummaging through cabinets for looksmaxxing contraband while something stalks the ugliest person it can find.
Three rules carry the whole raid:
- Blend in. You are a guest at someone else's party, and the house has standards.
- Stay prettier than at least one friend. The hunter targets the worst-looking player in the session, so the group's internal ordering matters as much as the total.
- Get out with the loot. Pockets hold a small number of items, the stash is separate, and the game expects you to carry things back out through the exit you came in from.
Loot you cannot use is not wasted: sell the extras at home and fund the ascension.
Be home by 5AM
Curfew is the extraction timer. Anything still in your pockets after 5AM gets confiscated, so the last minutes of a raid are a sprint for the exit rather than one more cabinet. If you make it, the sell screen settles the run — SELL ALL, then BUY GEAR for the next day.
The looks quota
Being prettier than your friends keeps you alive. Being prettier than the quota keeps the run alive. Clear a week and the quota rises; the official description confirms this is the difficulty curve rather than a one-off tutorial hurdle.
When the group comes up short, the game offers four outs, in its own words: illegal pharmaceuticals, sketchy procedures, stock trading, or gainful employment. Three of those are legal-ish, and the fourth is the basement lab.
Solo or a full lobby of eight
The game supports one player through eight. Solo is a legitimate way to learn the map, but the hunt mechanic changes with population: fewer players means a smaller pool of faces to be the ugliest one, and with eight, someone is always having a bad night.
What the game's own tutorial tells you
The on-screen prompts visible in the official screenshots are worth reading before anything else:
- "Carry the item out the exit you came in from." — extraction is literal, not abstract.
- "Cart a looksmaxxing item under $80." — budget shopping is a taught skill.
- "Try to bonesmash with the hammer." — offered early, and the mature-content notice says the payoff is negligible while the self-harm is not. In-game only, and not something to copy in real life.
Common first-run mistakes
| Mistake | Why it hurts |
|---|---|
| Shopping like money is unlimited | Rent lands on a fixed day; the tutorial's $80 cart is the lesson |
| Ignoring the clock | Curfew confiscates pockets, so a good haul walks away from you |
| Splitting up with no plan | The hunter picks off whoever looks worst, and isolation makes that worse |
| Treating the quota as someone else's problem | It is a group average — one weak member drags all eight down |
